Brown Bag Lunch Meeting. Our first brown bag meeting of the fall introduces us to fracking (hydraulic fracturing). We will eat and visit informally from 11:30-12 before hearing our guest speaker, Rex Buchanan, Interim Director of the Kansas Geological Survey. He is uniquely qualified to explain this controversial procedure. His background includes numerous scientific subjects and also journalistic experience. In short, he can explain technical subjects in language laypeople can understand. Special interests include Kansas geology, natural resources, the environment, and public policy. The topic is timely, building on a two-year study by LWVK on fracking. Local board member, Marlene Merrill, has taken part in this study and will introduce Mr. Buchanan at the meeting.
